MARKET ECONOMICS

Market economy's, like in the United States, have many advantages and disadvantages. One example of an advantage is the ability to change jobs and careers whenever you want to. One personal example of this is how my mom changed her career from banking to pharmacy. She stopped banking to raise the children then once we were grown up she went back to work as a pharmacist. This is great because as your personality changes you can change how you interact with your world.
One disadvantage of a market economy is the uncertainty of a businesses survival. One personal example of this for me is when a close family friend decide to start his own business. For the first couple months it went great, but when winter came his sales stopped and he started to struggle. This might be because he sold AC units, but still the sudden change was surprising.
A market economy has many more advantages and disadvantages but these are two personal examples that I thought of. I personally believe a market economy is a good system.

I still wonder though how much of a safety net should our government supply so if the economy fails people are not horribly harmed by it?

opportunity cost

One decision during my life that I made was to commit to doing full IB. This decision has opened many doors for me in my life, but it has also taken away a lot of my time. The decision to take full IB has made school much more interesting and challenging for me, well at the same time putting me on the path to be successful in college. Hopefully when I reach college it will allow me to succeed and get my degree easier then those who did not do IB.
On the other hand by choosing IB I have given up many things including sleep and sanity. IB puts an incredible amount of stress on its students and almost doubles the work load. It harms relationships with other people and cuts back on the amount of time you can spend with friends. It also takes away most of your electives and forces you to take certain classes during certain periods.
In the end though, I believe that taking IB was the correct choice because it allows me to stay interested in school and presents me with a reasonable challenge. This and also the many good study habits it teaches me is worth the extra work. One question I have about opportunity cost is what will be the cost of choosing a state college or a community college after taking full IB? Which form of college would be the best for me?

Something that is scarce in my life is sleep. I get home at 7-7:15 then do and eat till about 11 at night. I then have to wake up at 5:15 in order to make it to school in time for morning workouts with the football team. So since I get about 6 hours of sleep each night i believe sleep is scarce in my life.
