On the other hand by choosing IB I have given up many things including sleep and sanity. IB puts an incredible amount of stress on its students and almost doubles the work load. It harms relationships with other people and cuts back on the amount of time you can spend with friends. It also takes away most of your electives and forces you to take certain classes during certain periods.
In the end though, I believe that taking IB was the correct choice because it allows me to stay interested in school and presents me with a reasonable challenge. This and also the many good study habits it teaches me is worth the extra work. One question I have about opportunity cost is what will be the cost of choosing a state college or a community college after taking full IB? Which form of college would be the best for me?
